Dealing with Negative Self Talk

How to overcome self doubt

Have you ever noticed that patients who believe they can improve usually do much better than those who self sabotage with dis-empowering self talk? They become what they think about most. More often than not, the brain simply believes what it is told.

Behavioural researchers have told us that as much as 75% of everything we think is negative, counterproductive, and works against us. Negative self talk is rampant in today’s society. Often this self talk is negative at best and at worse, verbal abuse.

“Most of what seems to happen to you, happens because of you- something you created, directed, influenced, or allowed to happen” says Shad Helmstetter, Ph.D in “What To Say When You Talk To Yourself”

Unfortunately repetition is a convincing argument. It wires the brain so that future thoughts become easier to think.
